It hooked me from the first page. Your style of writing is easy to follow, easy to read and very engrossing.
Your style of writing is easy to follow, easy to read and very engrossing. I also liked the format of telling the background of your courtship-marriage-divorce in one chapter, then alternating with the “present” (aka 1977) time in the next.
Personally, I’m so PROUD of you. I want to high-five you for being such an amazing, courageous (to borrow Dan Rather’s phrase) person and for taking matters into your own hands. I said “person” in the above sentence because you are one of the strongest people I know (men and women combined). But, with that said, one of my favorite underlying themes of the book is the nod to strong women! Your sister’s mantras and notes, your description of the Indiana Bell attorney, your own daughter’s graduation announcement and YOU. I kept thinking of the following quote as I read the last few chapters.
Here’s to Strong Women
May we Know Them
May we Be Them
May we Raise Them
You definitely are and did the above! I aspire to do the same with my step-daughters and myself. I can’t believe you and your kids went through that – and I know that the saga wasn’t over with the closing of the book. You mentioned that there was a lot of healing, forgiveness, etc to be had in years after this one incident. I’m glad you mentioned that so readers know that there is so much more to the story. Thank you. You are an inspiration!
